Hi all, my name is Ratna, and I am a new member here.
I have NZ Working Visa as seaman and i'm thinking of moving to NZ as Permanent Residence and get job in the land, do i need a work permit before apply PR ??? or do i need any other documents to get PR???
Any information advice would be much appreciated

| Hi Ratna, unless you are an experienced businessman or have a few million dollars, or have close family in NZ, to get PR you will need to apply under the Skilled Migrant category. |

But i have some question again :
I have just got already New Zealand Working Visa as a Seaman Visa for 2 years but I would like to get job in the land not in the sea, is it ok for me if i work in the land but i have a seaman visa not land visa?
do i need change it from seaman into land visa or is it everything ok & legal for me to do job in the land???

Hi Ratna, when you arrive in NZ the work visa is converted to a work permit in your passport. The work permit itself will state what you are allowed to do in NZ. The NZIS website states:
A Work Permit is an endorsement in your passport which allows you to work in New Zealand. It will state the expiry date of your permit and the conditions of your permit. The conditions may include the type of employment, the employer's name and the location in New Zealand you are permitted to work in.
