Is there an equivalent of IKEA in NZ? We are planning to rent out our falt furnished here in Scotland while we're in NZ so not planning to bring much / any furniture with us... don't need much more than the basics but is there anywhere liek IKEA for cheap funky furniture in NZ?? Merci |

We would also dearly love to know if there is something like IKEA here.
So far we have found that most of the cheaper shops tend to have small quantities of furniture along with other ranges and often larger shops are more on the lines of MFI or DFS.
At least since few have any stock on hand you are spared the bemused look of the ikeite sales assistant when you enquire as to the next delivery date for the 'sputum' range of bathroom accessories
Best bet so far in Ch Ch has been Canary furniture for a good range of cheap but serviceable furniture and the Warehouse which has cheap housewares in abundance. |

It isn't as cheap as Ikea but www.freedomfurniture.co.nz is about the best modern furniture/houseware store we've discovered. Prices are midway between Ikea and Habitat and they've got some fab stuff. There are stores in North and South island and they do a catalogue which is a bit like the Next housewares section.
Hope that helps someone!
