Hi All,
Can anyone tell me where I can find further information on importing my old MG? I am sure there must be environmental constraints with the emmissions but unable to find them. (I am sure rich folk import their old Maseratis and Ferraris????
Also, i think i read somewhere that although a UK car license is good in NZ (pending a written test) a motorcycle license isn't. Any information on that one? Don't want to be importing my motorbike if I can't ride it!!
Ta,

Hi Carl,
You need to get a warrant of fitness (WOF) for any vehicle imported for use on NZ roads, a bit like our MOT test. For import restrictions check out the NZ customs website it contains all the info you need on importing vehicles.
Best of Luck

I read on Stuff latley that there are no emissions tests as such at present (although there is a limit to how long your car can belch smoke in Christchurch!) but that in 3 years or so there are plans to bring them in.
It would seem logical that if your vehicle passes the UK emissions test it might pass the new NZ ones, but as they are at present only rumoured, I can't be sure.
Try contacting the relevant authority in NZ. Everyone I have spoken to over there has bent over backwards to be helpful. |
