My "senior moments" are becoming more frequent!!
There was some discussion on whether one would have to leave NZ (when in on a Visitors Visa) to make an application for a work permit/visa... can anyone find it .. I can't
If not, can anyone give me the low down... seems I am redoubling my tracks and posts in a last minute panic!!

Dont know about a previous post, Moorf, but we didnt leave to apply. Once Paul had his job offer, we checked online to see what details were needed then headed down to the immigration office in the town centre. I'm sure they didnt even question that we were over on holiday. They gave us the form to fill in and told us to come back early the next day. Paul did, waited in line, then handed in his docs to an immigration officer and got the stamp in his passport there and then.
I think you guys will be ok cause your occupation is on the POL, (if I remember correctly) |

Hi Moorf
No, Dave got his work permit in 2 days, having entered on a visitors visa. |

| Hi, are you saying that you went on holiday, found a job and then applying for work permit? What about permanent residency? Also, how long was your visitors visa? |

Hi Abbie
Thats exactly what we did. We didnt apply for pr cause at the time the points were too high. We can (and will) apply now, and will have extra points because we now have NZ work experience. Visitors from the UK can stay up to six months without a holida visa.
