I have just read with some dispondancy the quote from the Herald newspaper concerning the over allocation of the migrant places availabe, and them being fully "booked up" for the financail yesr to July 2004.
Does this apply to the investors catagory too?
Also how long does it take to process the application fron the London office? Does anyone have any dealing with them and a better contact number then the £1 per min rip off line?

Hi John
I have a 'normal' uk phone number for NZIS which is supposed to be for people calling NZIS UK from overseas. I have used it from the UK and once you get through the first bit where it is in different languages, english is last , you then appear to connect to the usual selection of choices. I got through to an adviser who answered my questions I had.
I will dig it out and send you a PM later.

Hi there
Investor category go to NZIS Wellington for assessment unless from China.
Processing time 3 - 6 months but they're in turmoil at the moment because some nong promised they'd catch up on backlog so, all tools are down unless they're working on old LTBV prior to November 2002.
NB no chance of heads rolling from the people who let it get like that, so poor customers always suffer.
I'd advise you get your Investor Category applications in soon, the changes have been held off for six months now and may involve either lifting of the threshhold or more difficult criteria, although no-one knows for certain.
The Investor Category palces are part of Skilled/Resdience so yes they are affected in total, but usually NZIS have a budget or each category so might be afew stills et aside for Investor. Their new year, and new quota kick in July 1 so will be room after that, but by then the new Investor policy may be in place and m.i.g.h.t. be more difficult to meet. On other hand, it might just involve need to buy Government bonds instead of bank term deposit.
Not, very helpful, sorry. But I still think best way forward is "go in now".
Cheers from NZ where we're due a real cold snap and snow down South for Easter (yum, HOT hot cross buns)

Thank you for your reply.
We have just applied to the London office and they have just replied stating that there is a delay until August (5 months!) as that are dealing with the back log ... but here is a reciept for the money we have taken from you!
One good thing is, as you say , the criteria are potentailly lower now and in July there will be a fresh set of places available.
Stuffs up our timings though, as we where hoping to get out by August....
Maybe a long holiday is needed!!
