My boyfriend and I have been living together for a while and after visiting NZ for 6 weeks last year have decided we would like to move there permanently.
We have been looking at the points system and are a bit shell shocked by how much information there is to read and the fact that I do not qualify on the points system.
My partner and I are both qualified tax accountants but I have recently moved into a role that does not use my qualifications- so I guess I can't use the qualifications on my application. I didn't go to university either so my points are lower than the pass mark. I don't have a job in NZ but my partner might do by the end of this week.
Can anyone recommend a sensible way of getting through the huge amount of info on the immigration website or someone who can help us to work out how we get into NZ?
I can't believe that being a professional couple, who are under 35, with over £150,000 cash cannot get into NZ.
Thanks

Hello ER2, is the problem that if your partner gets a job you will be left behind, because
--->you personally don't have a job offer so won't get a work permit.
--->you persnally don't have enough points to qualify for Skilled Migrant category
--->you haven't been together long enough to qualify as spouse/partners
?
If this is the problem, remember that you can go to New Zealand for up to a year on a visitor's permit. If your partner is earning an income, you should have plenty of time to find a job and get a work permit. Once you have a job, getting permanent residence will be straightforward.

Yes, you should be able to. If you worked, say, 8 years in a role that required your qualifications, it doesn't matter if you move on to a different role not using the qualifications. You can still claim for the 8 years.
I hope that helps. |
