Hi Nave. Glad you are enjoying this site so far. It has been a great help to me over the last months. Your english is VERY good by the way, you should not have a problem in that respect. Myself and Iam sure many others, struggle to understand native New zealanders at times. That is something that will come with practice though.
It sounds like you may come upon the catch 22 of "no job offer, no visa/no visa, no job offer" situation. Do not panic, there are ways around this problem. A lot of people, on this forum and elsewhere, will go to Nz on visitors visa and then get the job offer. It is not the official way to do things, but they are not likely to stop you.
Nz is a superb place to bring up children, especially if they are still quite young when you go. Lots of clean open spaces and beautiful coutryside et. etc. From what I am told the schools are pretty good overall, and the kids actually want to go in the mornings.
You say you have property to sell in Italy. If that is so, then would you not have the money from this to finance your stay, at least for a few months to get settled and find work. I dont know what the cost of living is like in Italy, but think it is very likely to be cheaper all round in NZ. Look up the posts that show a cost of living calculator and start from there.
As far as the ozone layer problem goes, yes, you are correct. Nz is very near to a "hole". The extreme power of the sun down there is something all of us should be VERY aware of. We were there in March this year, which is late summer/autumn, and it was fierce. You can burn very fast, so it becomes second nature to keep covered up, and keep the sun screen going on.
Keep hunting through this and other forums, and I am sure any questions will soon be answered. Good luck.
Smile

hi!!
I'm an italian boy and I live near Milan. My dream is to leave my country for NZ the next year when I'll finish my university studies. I don't like to stay here No because we're too many people! there's always traffic and in the main seasons temperatures are terrible. Winter are cold (minus 5) and summer (with high umidity)can be very HOT ( 35-40 Celsius). My fear is that ... my degree (economy and trade) could be useless there and how can I do about working there if my studies are not appreciated? I want to make it on my own (I don't have children or friends with me) and meet good people (open and nice!).
Smile
As you can see I have many hopes to live in a better way,,,, Shy

sorry for my english Rolling Eyes

Hi Timbo.
First of all: what does it mean "Thoroughly Good Egg"!!???!!

Thank you for your appreciation of my English Embarassed but you do not know how hard it can be to express difficult items of thoughts in another languange... I guess sometimes what you understand is not really what I meant to say!
Thank you even more for your suggestions. From what I read, I saw that the "usual" way to solve the problem is to sell everything, get a tourist visa and find a job.
However, it is a very very VERY hard decision to take. There is always a BUT ... BUT if we WON'T find a job? There is always that horrible 0,0001% possibility we are the unlucky ones.. And we do have two children...
My husband is looking through job offers on the Internet and ther perspectives are not bad.
Sorry about the HOZONE problem. Which is not a small one. I do not know if a sun cream is enough to protect you from so strong UV rays. Though, having cancer for car pollution or for too much sun, ... is there a big difference?
Last: can you suggest other forums (even though I find this one great?).
Thanks and bye.

VINNY 81

In Italian just for once...

Ciao.
Ciao.

If you are unable to find a job as an economist in a job market of 470 million people (the EU) your chances to find one, in a job market more than 100 times smaller like NZ, are scarce...ad to this the fact that you are not a native english speaker.
Altough NZ is a good place to start your own bussiness much better than Italy...if you have money to invest.

a presto Mr. Green
