Does anyone have the number for the latest drawing from the EOI pool? I can't seem to find anything. Thanks! |

No I logged on to the NZIS web site with the user name and password and it has changed from "payment received" to "selected". Think the points score isn't published until tomorrow.
Have you put in an EOI? we only submitted it on sunday so didn't know if it would be in time for this week.

You are so lucky! I submitted back in January, my points are only 115, so waiting-waiting-waiting for it to go down. We'll be in Wellington in August, so hopefully a job offer will happen and my points will go way up! Congratulations to you! |

We had a 120 points until a couple of days ago and then got the magic job offer.
Good idea to go out to Wellington we did it in March, it would have paid off had we been able to start a month later, we weren't in that position so had to turn jobs down. Employers were not willing or able to wait for 3 months until we could get back out there. Probably depends what line of work you are in.
Best of luck to you

The point selection level is 140, with 648 people pulled!, it's going in the right direction, the next draw will be very interesting |

Hey Michelle,
Yes that's what i'm hoping, my hubbies a Chippie, they need his skills desperately, but as we can't get a job offer from the other side of the planet, we are stuck here....Crazy system well not stuck exactly, just got to go without residency or work visa
Congratulations on being pulled, bet you are over the moon today |

Feels great. Its taken us 10 months to get to this stage, quite a few more hurdles yet but for the first time I feel this is really happening.
Oh didn't mention the 8 years that I've longed to go back after we left Auckland in '96.
Stick with it if its what you really want you will get there. Lots of posts on here about trying to get jobs from the UK, its frustrating but possible. Or the best sloution would be if the points come down to a level where you dont need the job offer as you say it seems crazy when you have the skills they need.
Best of luck to you both |

Does anyone want to hazard a guess as to when the points will be down to the 110 - 120 mark?
Would it be by mid Sept - in which case should we lodge an EOI asap?

Thanks Michelle,
We were in NZ in 98 and have pined for it since, we knew we'd end up there sooner or later and have worked towards it for what seems like years now, yes we will definately go, one way or another.
Enjoy this great day michelle, it's all go now |

Hi all
This is where it will get interesting.
They had about 380 or so new EOIs arrive in last fortnight.
They said they'd pick 400 per cycle so on that reasoning you could expect the points to drop to about 120-130, where the new arrivals equal the numbers picked = artificial horizon.
Half the graduated students here would qualify, half not, and that would be opposite of NZIS promises...
And few of the ones being picked will be offshore, making the only way you safely(?) get to come to NZ being on a work permit with the associated enormous hassles in getting one, plus huge cost of coming over here for weeks and months to get a job offer if you can find one. NZIS have been cracking down VERY hard on job offers these last few months...
Issues:
1. Effect of any lapsing of old cases to take place in next few months, this will now only affect the ones at say 130 and below.
2. Evident need to approve as many as possible due to growing skills and manpower shortages, so points will keep going downs as they might keep picking 600 or so but then what happens when the pool will be empty?
Methinks they will pick all they can and eventually empty the pool.
As it is near impossible for new migrants from Asian regions and India to get enough points, eventually all of these people in NZ will have applied for residency and that will reduce the numbers from onshore.
That leaves it at 120 points by about December, maybe another year gradually drifting down to 100.
Jamie's crystal ball:
Look for a reallocation of points weighting rather than changes to policy per se. It's less of a political hand grenade if they just tweak the points mix, fine tuning and all that...
Maybe more points given to older ages, perhaps points given to families with young kids, that kind of thing.
NZIS would hate to have an empty pool for too long.... ignomious failure....
All the uncertainty must be hard for you guys, and guyesses, hope I'm not adding to it. |

Dammit - I had my points projections at 120 at the beginning of Sept - anyone have any crystal ball cleaner? |
