This is a really good link to find out how much rent people are paying for their houses all over NZ. It provides almost suburb by suburb detail of rents in cities for above average houses, average houses and below average houses.

i found this site whilst investigating house buying
www.real-estate-nz.com
It gives fairly basic info about types of houses and the buying process
Mainly gives additional info about the Christchurch area if you're looking to move that way.
You may find it helpful fingers crossed

Hi all, a couple more useful sites. The first lists properties nationwide and has some useful general NZ and local info

http://www.professionals.co.nz

This second link is for an Auckland agent specialising in North Shore properties and again has useful local info.

http://www.lochores.co.nz

Good luck!

Nice One

A website that gives you an indication of prices is:

www.homesell.co.nz Yes

its a publication for private sellers who may in theory take a lesser price as they are not paying real estate commission!! Clapping

Hi All,

I came across this groovy little tool to help you watch the average market price of properties in your chosen little corner of NZ...it might be useful when negotiating to buy your first NZ home!

http://www.reinz.co.nz/marketfacts/graph/MarketFacts.dll/Search

Currently the market is slowing down in terms of sales volume and days on the market....some of this is seasonal but I sense at the very least a flattening of the market and my gut feel has been for some time that the boom time is over for a while with a lot of property on the market that is overpriced and under maintained. Just my opinion after visiting over 100 open homes new and old over the last 3 months!

Happy hunting!!! robin hood
