Thought it may be worth starting up a thread for passing on holiday or short term accomodation tips/recommendations.
It would be usefull for anyone going out for research or for stop gap accom. while they get sorted. My highly recommended lodge is near Whitianga.

We simply liked the look of the setting, and boy were we NOT disapointed.

For anybody driving through from Gisborne to Napier (via Wairoa) I'd recommend stopping off at the Morere Hot Springs - see below

Accomodation is across the road and appears pretty standard, it's the isolation that wins it. They do have a nice self catering cottage which is well off the road and the current owners cook a good brekkie and make a mean bowl of coffee.

More to the point the Hot Springs are a great way to relax, the pools are naturally heated and for a few bucks you can get into a private pool, get your kit off and sit loking out onto open rainforest - that's when our holiday really starts. Smile What's even nicer is when your father in law lives 200 yds away!!
