Dear all,
My husband is definitely flying to NZ to try to get a job offer (his EOI pts right now is only 120). He's most likely to be there is May or June (it's winter there right?). We are still undecided if he'll go to Chch, Auckland or Wellington (he's a production/mechancal engineer). Can somebody pls tell me which of these areas will give him a good chance of having an employment
Another thing, this will be his first time in that part of the world so this is totally alien to him. What is the best accomodation (not to mention cheap) he can have while there?
Hope to hear your suggestions soon.

Hi Jenkins,
The most likely place to find work for your husband would be AKL. Cheapest accomodation would be international youth hostles or backpackers accomodation after that it would be motels you might even get a homestay/B&B cheapish. Try the NZ yellow pages for accomodation and fire off a few emails. Also the YP's will give some indication of possible employers...like anything its all in the planning so let prospective employers know when you are coming and fire off a few CV's to agencies!
The NZYP's lists Engineers - Manufacturing (not production, forgive the somantics) cica 100 companies and Engineers Mechanical 33 companies of course there may be some duplication across categories but you get the general idea. You should also consider precision engineering and toolmakers oerhaps?
