Hi to you all
I am new to the forum so I apologise in advance if this question has been asked before!
Could anyone from the UK and has been through the Medical/X-rays give me an indication of the cost and how long to get the information back from them to get it sent off with the application.
I am a NZ'er married to a Brit, with 2 children(ages 5 and 7) We are looking at moving to NZ within the next 12 months. My children have dual passports so the only person who needs residency is hubby. We will be applying through the family partner policy.
We would also love to hear from anyone who has applied this way and has any tips for us.
Thanks! |

Hi Tanya
I think that the panel doctors can charge different fees according to some of the posts I have read; but I guess they must all be within a certain range. We have had our done recently for the Work to Residence visa, but the med/xray procedure is identical whichever route you are taking.
The panel doctor here in Cumbria charged £60 for the medical plus £20 for the VDRL (syphillis) blood test per person; and the radiologist at the hospital charged £40 for the chest Xray.
If you have a choice of a couple of panel docs near to where you live, it may be worth getting a price over the phone - some people have been charged to have Hep B vaccinations and the like when there is no need, it is not a mandatory req by NZIS but some Docs seem to try and make a quick buck!
Good luck

It is also worth getting your medical booked asap as there may be a lengthy wait. There are only a few authorised doctors in the country.
Once you have had the medical, the papers should be returned to you, sealed, for onward transmission. In our case this took a week. |

Thanks to you both for that. We only have one in our area so it sounds like they can charge what they like!
Will get hubby sorted and get him booked in!! |

Tanya
could you inform me of which doctor/hospital you found in Nottinghamshire to do your medical/xrays, I hadnt gave it a thought that it might be so difficult to find someone local to do it. |

Hi Steve
We were given a list when we phoned in for our visa forms. Send me a PM with your email and I will scan the form and email it to you.
