Just asking a simple question: How long have you got to be in the country before you can apply for a mortgage? |

| 1/2 hour will probably do as long as you have a good down payment. Best ask Karl for more info. |

My husband applied after being there for a month and a half. National Bank were quite happy to lend him 80%, most of it on short-term and about £24,000 on long term mortgage, pending the sale of our property here in the UK, which appears to be moving along OK.
He is only there on a 2 year work permit and we can't apply for PR under the normal routes as he is above the maximum age limit . We're hoping to go via LTBV route eventually. So they know he can't qualify for PR under the normal procedures, but were happy to agree to a mortgage. It must be just as easy for someone who can achive PR by the normal methods. |

Hi all
I got a mortgage very easily - within a month of arriving and before my residency came through.

Just a little postscript. Dave found out this week that the rules changed 3 weeks ago and now the bank want written confirmation from NZIS of your status in NZ e.g work permit/WTR/work visa etc.
Hasn't caused him a problem. The bank received letter from NZIS and have now released the funds for him to draw when required. |

Sandra,
Thanks for that info neighbour. Bet you can`t wait to get out of Warrington, but there again its got to be better than Runcorn,eh? Had job offer from Transport Company (HGV1 driver) in NZ this week along with various info so its going to be a busy few weeks getting all the paperwork up to scratch. Looking to get out of this dump hopefully by Nov.
Once again thanks |

Hi Kim
Great news - well done.
This is where the fun starts, I'm getting fairly stressed now that I'm nearing exchange of contracts point, just wish it was all over and done with. The buyers keep throwing spanners in the works. They wanted the electrics testing - OK. Then they wanted the boiler testing - not OK. Some kind of problem about where the boiler flue is in relation to the cooker hud outlet that's over the hob and how close the flue is to the kitchen window. Apparently if the wind's in the wrong direction carbon monoxide from the flue could re-enter via the cooker hud outlet and kill everybody in the house through carbon monoxide poisoning. They have offered £1,000 less due to the fact that they may have to replace the kitchen window and make alterations to the hud outlet. I've lived here 4 years and I don't think I've overdosed on carbon monoxide. It's the little problems that you don't expect that get you down and drag out the whole process. At this rate we will have two houses and two mortgages to pay. Aaaaaarrrrgggghhhh.
Too right about getting out of Warrington - I think it's about to reach gridlock any moment I suppose you've been having fun with the Runcorn bridge for a while I suppose Warrington is slightly better, but not a lot after all we have the Thelwall viaduct. Where are you going to be based? You must be really excited Will you have enough points to go for EOI or are you on WTR? |
