Like most places, including forums, strongly expressed views about politics and religion can cause antagonism and are usually better avoided.
NZ is, in my experience, a country where the great majority of people follow a 'live and let live' philosophy. |

I would consider the current Prime Minister to be very progressive.
One of her agendas is that NZ becomes a more secular society. As an example, during a dinner for the Queen in late January 2002, she deliberately chose not to say grace. |

I dont know about now, but 20 years ago NZ was definitely unprogressive..
They had a fear of socialism.. odd, really..
Commies were under every bed..
hippies were foul.... and to be beaten up regularly..etc..
And dont dare think your own thoughts.....
I am hoping tht its better now..which is why my family and I are going there...
If I am wrong, we can always leave again...
If we must. |
