Here's hoping someone can help us out.
I'm an electrician and my girlfriends a nurse, due to the difficulty involved in electricial registration from the Uk and all job offers needing NZ registration before starting (chicken & egg or what) we've decided to go through Julie's job.
My question is has anyone any experience with using nursing agencies who will find you work & sort out visas etc, rather than applying direct to the hospitals from the UK.
She's registered with one agency and they were very helpful and said no problem for either of us getting working visas but we'd like to check it out first as it all seems a bit too easy.[/quote] |

Hi
Geneva are the prefered supplier for all Auckland hospitals I have found them very helpful. You can always contact the hospitals direct, all are looking for staff. What area do you work in?
Send me a PM if you want some more info for Auckland, I also have some contact details for Wellington health board who were very helpful.
You will have no problems getting work

Hi, my wife has recently gone back to nursing after an eight year break - so we are heading on that track.
First things first your girlfriend will need to get registered with the Nursing Council equivalent in NZ, if you find a good agent then they can supply the paperwork and chase it up from their end for you.
Once she is registered to practice, you can then get the agency looking for work, get the job offer, submit your EOI under skilled Migrant and cross fingers, and hopefully hey presto!
The agency we are working with is called Hudson Pacific and they are based in Christchurch, but service all of NZ. Easy to find on the web. We first met them at a couple of NZ expos here in the UK and everybody we have met/talked to has been friendly and helpful,(they will also be back at the Autumn expo in London, usually right by the entrance).
Obviously they won't be able to pull any strings on Visa applicaion, but once you commit to them and don't go talking to other agencies then they can keep on top of things for you.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

Susan lin came with them to chch. She might be able to give some advice if she reads this post (or pm her direct) They sorted everything (TMP Hudson that is, ...although they might be pacific hudson..??? you should try living with me!!!)

Hi
TMP Hudson helped me get to NZ and they were very good. They found me a nursing job and were very helpful throughout the whole process of moving to NZ. They kept in frequent contact with me, emailing details of jobs etc. I had a video interview from London with the new employer and Hudsons organised it all. They were also very good at providing info on all aspects of living in NZ and used to send me out details of real estate (Blue Book). I would certainly recommend them.
Hudson's helped me get a job and Kiwi (Nic) found me somewhere to live! All I had to worry about was getting the visa and saying the goodbyes!
Oh yes - nursing council - it took 5 months for me to be registered with them due to their inefficiency with losing my paperwork (my references were lost and one of my referees posted it 3 times to the council). Hudsons again were a great help - they contacted the council on my behalf and finally got my registration sorted.,
Have a look at their website - have some contact emails and numbers if you want to send me a pm.
