| i've yet to have any dealings with the nzis but i'm generally suspicious of officials. are the people at the nzis helpful and do they act towards potential migrants like they really do want more people for nz and encourage you, or go the extra mile for you? or do they fall below this standard by a little or a long way? any comments appreciated. thanks. |

They were super-efficient with our application.........but that's all ancient history now, from a time when NZ was struggling to get enough migrants. Seems hard to believe that these days. |

Generally speaking they're all pretty good people - kiwis!, with a few exceptionally good and a few at other end of spectrum. Compounded by policy changes and political interference, there can be anomalies.
Typical of any large Govt organisation really, some people have soft careers and wouldn't survive in commerce so they gravitate to Govt work, others are true professionals.
Like most things, organisations are mediocre, it comes down to the individual allocated to your case. |

A big round of applause for NZIS, they were very efficient, friendly and helpful all the way through initial questions to processing our visas. It took them just 5 working days from receipt of our application to issuing. They'd set our expectation that it would be 4-9 weeks, so we were very happy.
Well Done NZIS |

Hi Tom,
We are going to London this Thursday to try to get our work visa face-to-face. We too were told 6-9 weeks for processing but given we have waited since early November to get and Approval in Principle we now need to hurry things along a bit. I hope I can diplomatically sweet talk them into issuing on the same day! Will report back on Friday!!!! |

Hi Karl,
Good luck with that one, my partner went in person to London NZ House too, but we applied under the Talent work visa with an accredited employer job offer, so that is probably why it went so quickly. I wish you luck with trying to do it on the same day.... I'd guess the best advice is to make sure you have all your information laid out in a easy to read format clearly indexed so everything can be found and treat all the staff you come into contact with with respect, getting upset with them isn't going to help your case, we're all only human after all. |
