Hi All
I hope someone on the forum might be able to help with this one.
I have had a Pre-assessment done on my qualifications by NZQA, these are BTEC's in lift engineering, but could only enter one BTEC certificate which was graded as a level 3, ie no good for points.
The thing is I've got six BTEC's all obtained in lift engineering over a seven year period. Doe's anyone know if its worth sending them all at once to NZQA for assessment hopeing they will give them a level 4, ie would six be graded higher than just one.
I have a job offer in Auckland but without a level 4 not enough point to put in an EOI.
Thank All

I think NZQA charge the same amount, regardless of the number of qualifications being assessed...if this is the case then you wouldn't have anything to lose by getting them all assessed at the same time (although it would take time to get all the certificates and course transcripts together).
I don't know anything specific about BTECs, so don't quite understand why doing 6 of them is better than 1...are they at different levels, or does one lead onto the other?? If they complement each other in some way, then they could well add up to a higher level qualification; but if they just recover pretty much the same material, they are likely to stick at Level 3.
Give 'em a call to find out. I've always found NZQA quite helpful when I've got hold of a real person by phone or e-mail. |

Hi BJ
On your pre-assessment it should have given you a screen for supporting qualifications.
What you need to do is put down your most recent qualification first as the qualification you would like assessed and then fill out subsequent 'supporting qualifications' until you have put all your other BTEC's down.
I personally would submit another pre assessment as it's a lot cheaper and quicker than submitting a full on assessment at $600 +.
Worth a shot

Hi Sadie & Graham
Thanks for the advise, all the BTEC cover a different aspect of lift engineering each one getting more indepth.
I think Sadies idea of putting the last btec first then showing the others as 'supporting qualifications' is the way to go, Thanks Sadie.
See ya

Hi BJ
I do book-keeping and had my qualifications pre-liminary assesed I entered all 3 levels on my form and they returned it as a level 4 qualification! I don't know whether they assesed them all or whether they just assesed the highest level qualification.
Am I making sense?
I haven't bothered getting a full assesment as my husband was our principal applicant and his qualifications are on the recognised qualification list. |
