Hi Everybody,
I have a piece of info that may be of interest to guys who have applied for PR under old General Skills Category. Yesterday there was a call from HR guy in my company checking with me if I had applied for immigration to New Zealand.
He confirmed that there was an enquiry from NZIS to verify my experience / employment details.
So, all's not lost yet. Things are moving for leftovers like me too
Anybody, in same boat

Hi Sanjiv,
I'm in the same boat ...
I wrote to NZIS few weeks ago asking about my application's status and they told me my application has been taken out of the queue and aasigned to a case officer for processing. So i wrote to my case officer and she said that presently my qualifications and work experience is being checked for routine verification and this will take between 3-5 months.
I applied in February 2003. How old is your application?

| How many points did you have when you applied, and what was the passmark then, Aura? |

Hi Calin and Aura,
I had applied in August 02 with 28 points (passmarks at that time were 28 only)?
What about you Aura?
Calin, do you also belong to same category?

Hi sanjivgoomer,
I applied for PR in June, 2002.
The difference is that I had only 24 points. The passmark then was 29, so they would have to give me the Job Search Visa, and I don't think they want to give it anymore.
How about you, Aura?

Hi, Calin
All cases similar to your's were contacted by NZIS some time in Jan - Feb 04 and offered to apply for refund of their application fee.
Have you received refund of the Application Fee?
If not, you still have some hope. Not that I have very high hopes myself
Regards

Not all cases,
Aura applied in february 2002. She might be in the same boat with me. I've heard about people who were invited to apply for refund, but it's not my case.
I'm sure your case is diffrent than mine. You applied undet the IGSC and I think you've not been offered PR yet because of the problems of the NZIS office where you applied. I'm sure you'll get the PR soon.

Thanks Calin, for the words of encouragement.
What I gather from my sources in India is that the applications those were outrightly rejected were offered refund. Ones with some change of qualifying were retained for processing.
I had applied in Aug02 under GSC. IGSC came into force in Nov02.
So you and Aura still have a chance
Keep me posted.
