And I've given a wrong year for myself too.
I applied in June, 2003.
So I think you and Aura are in the same boat. I think she had enough points to fulfill the passmark in february 2002.

I thought you applied in August 2003.
So, good luck to us all

Please excuse me Sanjiv and Aura for messsing up everything.
It seems that I misunderstood Aura's year of application too. This is because it seems so long since I applied. She aplied in February, 2003. I applied in June, 2003, so I think there is a little hope for me too.

Hi Calin,
I think as of today, time of lodging the application does not make much difference as only cases live (pending ) with NZIS are ones which are under process.
All others have already been rejected.
So, cheerup
Regards

Hi Sanjiv,
I thold you I am sure things will move in your case. I'm happy for you. I know how frustrating was to wait seing how things move in a wrong direction.
I don't know where Aura dissapeared. I am from Romania too, and I'm sure many thins in my case would be similar to Aura's. It would be of help to be able to ask her some questions.
I tried to write an email to my case officer in London, but the email seems not to be valid anymore... I guess I'll have to make a call to London.
Are you going alone, or you have a family?

Thanx Calin,
for your words of encouragement.
I am planning to take my family (wife and two grown up daughters) along.
But there is still a small problem in my case:
Visa Officer is not satisfied with the experience cerificate issued by my first employer (about 20 years back) and needs more evidence. Unfortunately, this is the only doccument I can lay my hands upon right now. Pretty old case
I am trying to contact my old emplyers, but it seems they have wound up their old bussines and started some thing new.
Without this period, my experience comes down to 19 years (I lose one point which I cann't afford to)
Don't know what to do?
Karl, JCM, Moorf, Jamie, John Miller and all, pleeeease come to my rescue
Regards
Sanjiv |

Hi Sanjiv,
Your problem doesn't surprise me. First we thought my wife would be the main applicant, and she was very worried because, as in your case, the company wher she worked in the first two years doesn't exists anymore. In the end I was the main applicant.
I think you shoud start a new topic with your problem. There would be more chances for people to see it, an maybe someone would be able to give you an advice.
In my view, you'll have to struggle to get the evidence of your work experience, because I think the NZIS won't care about your problem. |

Hi Karl, JCM
Any advise??
In case the compay has closed down, are the appointment letter and the experience cetificate not sufficient to prove my experience?
I think I got stuck t the last hurdle
Common please
Regards

Hi Sanjiv,
I personally think that an appointment letter and cert of experience should be good enough and can't see what else they would require. I would however suggest tracking down your old employer and even if they have wound up the old firm you might be able to get them to provide you with an up-to-date testimonial covering the period in question.
Have NZIS told you specifically what they are not convinced of? PM me if you don'y want to discuss this publicly on the forum!

A little tale of encouragement maybe
Last year we were going to apply under the old general skills catagory, but got caught up in NZIS red tape (long story, wont bore you) Anyway, we found ourselves ONE point short
We needed to pick up some points on Pauls work experience (welder) and we worked out that a few years before he took his welding qualifications, he was working in the Naval Dock Yard as a fire centry, Fire watching the welders. We checked this out with NZIS and it counted as welding work experience The bad news was, it was for an employment agency about 10 years before. He couldnt even remember the name,
However, one day he phoned me at work and said, "I think ive remembered who they are, can you phone them and ask."!!!
Anyhow, like the dutifull wife I am I phoned, and the director of the agency remembered my husband.!!! We couldnt believe it, this guy had the most amazing memory I have ever known. They typed us up a letter, and we were sorted.
The moral of this story is; Sometimes it is worth perservering, and chasing what might seem to be a dead end |

Thanks a Ton, Karl and Wilson for th ewords of life once again
Today, I am going to meet my consultant and hand over the IELTS reports and all the available documents. (with smile on my lips and prayer in my heart!!!)
I hope the Visa Officer is considerate enough to understand my situation and grants me an interview to clarify my position.
In the meantime, offcourse, I am trying to locate my old employer.
Will keep you guys updated.
Thanks again and warm regards
