Online cost of living calculator just added to ENZ website

Hi, we've just finished this calculator. It enables you to select/personalise the type of lifestyle you would like in New Zealand and tells you the salary you will need to obtain that lifestyle. I hope you like it. Comments welcomed.

That is a neat tool. Can anyone recommend a site that has pay ranges for professions? I want to have some interviews in a few weeks on our visit, but I am having a hard time doing my homework on what particular jobs pay! Anyone? cool

Looks like we will not be forced to eat Donar Kebabs, after all.

Does anyone have any idea of salaries for legal executives in the South Island? There is a lot of education required for this work, so I would expect the salary to match accordingly.. but I've only been able to ascertain salaries for the Auckland area -- around $45,000/year. Something tells me the South Island salaries will be more niggardly.

Anyone?

Finding good salary figures is tough! When in doubt, consult with the relevant professional organization - many of them publish salary surveys.

Try the New Zealand Law Society or the New Zealand Institute of Legal Executives. NZILE has some general salary info under Links & Resources ("Summary of Working Conditions" - it's an Excel document), but it's not broken out by location.

Thanks very much for taking the time to help!

I had discovered and crawled both the websites you mentioned, but hadn't previously located the general salary information -- that was great! I did notice that the spreadsheet has tabs at the bottom for Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, etc., so there is at least some idea of regional differences. Probably as specific as we're going to get!
