Hi

We are going through it at the moment as I am a NZ'er but applying for Partnership residency for hubby. My children have dual passposts so it shouldn't be a problem. We have been told it takes 3-5 months from them receiving application. We put our house on the market this week and if a sale is quick, we will have to contact NZIS and ask them to speed the process up. fingers crossed

Seems a long time to check out an application but from what others have said on the forum, it appears to be taking the 5 months.

Hope this helps

We are just about ready to submit the application and were wondering on the timing of the house sale.

If you could, in the excitement of getting yours through, let me know how long yours did take, we would be very grateful.

Kind Regards.

Hi Bobbie,

In the same boat as you but like Tanya the application is in, been handed in in for just under a month now - after recieving the acknowledgement letter that was about it from NZIS. Just got to put our feet up and relax and see when the next bit of correspondace will arrive - it seems you just have to wait as they are in no particular hurry! - So yes 5 mths is about what it seems to be.

Perhaps they are trying to get you used to the new pace of life you are going to expect???!

according to the april 2004 newsletter on the london NZIS homepage

http://www.immigration.govt.nz/Branch/LondonBranchHome/Newsletters/

"we are working with current processing times of about 3-5 months with intention of reducing this to between 1-3 months by the end of June 04 for family applications. Of course processing times are still dependent on applicants providing enough information for a decision to be made etc."

i'll hopefully get my police and medical stuff together in order to submit an application in early august.. guess that means the earliest we'd be able to go is around xmas..

also i'd like to ask - what kinds of letters/evidence have people supplied to prove they're in a genuine and stable relationship? we don't have any joint financial information which apparently is one thing they like to see. we can certainly get lots of friends and family members to write letters tho. any advice on what kind of thing they should say?

From the date we sent ours in the post to the day we received the passport back took 1 month 3 days!!

Our case officer was brilliant and I had a couple of phone conversations with her.

We didn't have a great deal in the way of joint financial info as all bills are in Richard's name.
In the end she was happy with bank statements from each of our bank accounts for the same month(to show the address), a phone bill in hubbys name, one in mine(One tel for international calls). a letter from an endowment help place addressed to both of us(mortgage misselling - we won!!)

We wrote a letter to them stating that we wanted the children to complete the school year here bt to not go back in september and we had a wedding to go to in September in NZ.

If you need any other info - just PM me

Silversmith - how is your PR going - any news yet??

ah that gives me some encouragement - one month three days is very quick! the phone bill with the international calls is a good idea. my wife's family live in nz and we'll be going to stay with them at first. i guess we should make all that clear in our cover letter.

We applied in December for my husband's residency visa and had a couple of blips with medical details and supplying further info to prove we were still together (despite them having our marriage certificate of 16 years) and got the okay at the end of May. The passport has just come back today with the visa stamped in. We are off on August 16th.
Once allocated to aspecific person it is really easy to contact them and they were very helpful.Almost all the timings they gave us were accurate. Bear in mind the govt over there are bringing in new regulations regarding partners and it will be more difficult in the future to obtain. get onto it as soon as poss.

Hi, susan,

Could you elaborate on your comment that NZIS is going to bring in new regulations regarding partners and make it more difficult for them to come in? As the partner of a NZ citizen who, in the midst of our quest to migrate to NZ, occasionally has thoughts of postponing the whole ordeal for a year or two, I'm extremely interested to hear your information!

All the best, Rae

Hi Tanya,

Got friends and family to write approving letters for us, picking up the last of those at the weekend. Also looking through the old photo albums for suitable pictures of us together as they asked. We aim to send these on Monday and from that point its all plian sailing hopefully and they will get the migrant levy request soon hopefully then the stamp! Hows things with you?

Silversmith

Nice to hear your PR is coming along. fingers crossed
We are just waiting for the house to sell - not all plain sailing here - nice village, top primary school, but people don't seem keen to move at the moment with the supposed "House market crash" about to happen and the high interest rates! No

The children don't think they are going back to school here after the summer break so we hope the house sells soon - it's statrting to do my head in Nutcase Once you make a decision you just want to get on with it don't you. We are in the property guide again this week so fingers crossed for a viewing..

Let me know how you get on with your PR.

Tanya
