Hi
Can anyone help me out with this query please
How much documentation does NZIS want - how many photos, emails,
letters (to the same address) etc?
As my fiance and I are not married yet (he's Dutch, I'm a Kiwi) we don't have a marriage cert, and have yet to join our finances together.
Will photos, emails, letters etc be enough to prove our relationship?
Thanks a lot

Hi Lily,
We were in the same (ish) situation - unmarried and never bothered with joint finances etc, all bills in Heather's name as I don't pay them until they're final demands, council tax in landlord's name because he has some scam going on, so nothing official to link us together.
We supplied :
Covering letter about relationship
'I think of him as a son even though he's a pom' letters from family attesting to the strength/length of the relationship
A letter from a consultant doctor friend on headed notepaper
Bank statements for each of us with same address
Wedding invitations sent to us as a couple
Photos of us together on holiday
Photos friends have of us obviously 'together' in pubs parties etc (you may have to censor some of these - did we do that in public ?)
Jointly addressed envelopes if you can find any
Photocopies of passport pages with same date visa stamps
Anything else that occurs to you
How many ? We put in about 10 photos (incidentally we didn't get them back), 4 bank statements covering one year for each of us, maybe 4 jointly addressed envelopes with visible date stamp, plus the other gear listed above. We took the application to NZ House personally and someone checked our application. We asked her if it was enough detail - we took piles more garbage with us sort of proving we lived together just in case - and she said it was.
Essentially they want you to prove that you have been living together in a loving relationship for the twelve months prior to the application being lodged. You can always phone them up and ask if what you have is enough.
Hope this helps - it worked for us.
Best of luck,
John |
