I was study in Wanganui from 91-94. One week before we left for good i received pink form from immigration for permanent resident. I was too hurry packing up my stuff at that time so have to throw away the form without reading it. What does it meant? Does this form come from immigration depart to offer PR? If yes can i still apply eventhough its already 10 years now. I am Malaysin.
Pls help |

Hi jasindolah,
Welcome to the forum!
From what you are saying I should just write it off and forget it. After 10 years away theres no way you could use this to apply for PR now! You will have to lodge an Expression of Interest, EOI, in the normal way.
I was a PR back in 1991 and returned to the UK with a returning residents visa which I allowed to lapse. Even under these circumstances you go back to square one......a bit like snakes and ladders...sorry to dissappoint you!

Dear Karl
Thanks for the reply. I found out these day very hard to apply for the PR since their system keep changing every years. I heard from my friends the easy way is to married local women then you will awarded PR status.
How about in Uk, Karl? Is that hard also to become permanent resident? |

I can't speak for the UK process. As a British Citizen I would personally take a very dim view of a marriage of convenience just to get PR! I have a Chinese friend who went through the process the 'right ' way and I was happy to be a reference for his citizenship application. He tells me it is very hard to get into the UK/EEC countries. He married a Russian girl he met in the UK and they are very good friends of mine. |

Hello Jasindolah,
I just wanted to say that the most beautiful little island i have ever visited was Malaysian....Perhentian islands off the coast from Kota Bharu, wow i must get back there again one day, the only thing i had trouble with was the size of the spiders there, absolutely massive and so fast too, i think they were bird eating spiders?, every telegraph pole was home to one anyway that's just me being a wuss

Thanks Lisa,
No doubt about Perhentian Island has being major attractions for foreign tourists for many years.
The Pulau Perhentian (Perhentian Island) group of islands are the northernmost islands off the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. There are two main islands -- Pulau Perhentian Besar (Perhentian Besar Island) and Pulau Perhentian Kecil (Perhentian Kecil Island) -- plus several large rocky outcrops to the northeast namely Pulau Tokong Kemudi Barat (Tokong Kemudi Barat Island), Pulau Dara Kecil (Dara Kecil Island), Pulau Tokong Kemudi (Tokong Kemudi Island), Pulau Rawa (Rawa Island), Pulau Burung (Burong Island) and Pulau Serenggeh (Serenggeh Island).
Typical of most tropical islands, the two main islands are heavily forested and ringed with white sandy beaches. Being far away from the mainland, Pulau Perhentian, which literally means 'Stopover Island', is rich in coral and marine life which includes stingrays, nudibranchs, black corals, moray eels and colourful fishes. Turtles come up to lay eggs between April and September.
The main village is situated on the southeast coast of Pulau Perhentian Kecil and the locals are a friendly and hospitable lot. Accommodation is mainly aimed at budget travellers and is available on both the main islands as well as some of the smaller islands. New resorts with better facilities are currently being constructed.
Perhentian is one of the best diving spots in Malaysia, and is also excellent for snorkelling and jungle trekking. Its laid-back atmosphere makes it the perfect getaway.

YAY Perhentian! Wow, memories flooding back!
Also, did the train trip from KL to Singapore (sat next to a guy smuggling Bibles onto China - no he didn't convert me )
Also went to an island which was reached from plane and boat from Kuala Terangganu - I wish I could remember the name - strange place, full of Germans but great beaches and tranquility!
Shame to hear about Yaohan - we were called in to help them when I was there as they were slipping into a "bargain basement" scenario trying to keep up with other stores like Sogo etc! Can't believe there is yet ANOTHER mall - I used to go to one in Damansara which was, supposedly, the biggest in Malaysia!
Oh memories....... |
