Hi Again Susan
DVD players run the gamut from around NZ$100 to much more depending on the bells and whistles. If you're planning on bringing your DVD's with you, you'll probably want to purchase a multi-region DVD player as NZ is Region 4 and the UK is Region 2. (Your VHS tapes will play on NZ VCR's though).
FYI: Following is a list of DVD region codes and their corresponding geography.
1. Canada, United States, US. Territories
2. Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East (including Egypt)
3. Southeast Asia, East Asia (including Hong Kong)
4. Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Central America, Mexico, South America, Caribbean
5. Former Soviet Union, Indian Subcontinent, Africa (also North Korea, Mongolia)
6. China
7. Reserved
8. Special international venues (airplanes, cruise ships, and so on)
Some DVD players can be hacked to play all regions and you can find this info on the internet...but you needed an excuse to buy a new one anyway right?
DVD's run anywhere from about NZ$20 on up depending on their release date, popularity, etc. (I hear you can get a copy of Jeepers Creepers for pretty cheap! )
Here's a websites for a popular retail store that sells just about everything but the kitchen sink...

Here's a website for NZ gamers:

Hope that helps! |

| Hi Susan, I bought a new DVD player the other week for NZ$150 from a shop called Noel Leeming if I remember rightly. It had a CD with it that after playing once for a minute or two allowed the DVD player to play DVDs from anywhere. I needed it cos I've got plenty of UK DVDs. If you're especially interested in DVD's from the UK there's an outfit who have good prices and post them out here for just a Pound. |

| I have found that CDWOW.co.uk is very cheap for recent issue DVD, games and CDs. They ship post free from hong-kong to NZ and UK alike. You can also specify region 4 discs if you like (although it is quite hard to find a DVD player here that has not been adapted to work in multiple regions!) |

| Will my UK PS2 work on an NZ TV? I have rather a lot of games and it has been modified to allow me to play (ahem) backups. |

Yes it will work. My vanilla version did anyway.
Games are horribly dear here though with prices about $120 and very little discounting. |

Wohoo!
Thanks Robert, my mates were already flying around me like vultures
- Although the Dance Mat will be shipped later! Yeah, yeah, I know a 32 year old w/ a dance mat. It was a blast at parties trying to coordinate when 'happy' or 'tipsy' |
