Hi everyone

I really love this site - it's so helpful and makes me want to move to NZ all the more!!! Clapping

I've just qualified as a massage therapist and plan on coming to NZ on a Working Holiday Visa for the year. I have rellies in Wellington so will stay there a bit and then move on up North.

Is it possible for me to apply for jobs once there? It would appear so but you need to have been in skilled employment and I wouldn't be whilst there on the WH visa!!! Confused I have previously worked in insurance and as a financial adviser. Would this get me a job? I would love to become a massage therapist once there but don't have the experience. Should I try to apply for a job whilst in the UK or just go for it and come out there? Really confused by all the abbreviations. The financial advisor experience is on the SOL or POL as some call it!

Please reply fingers crossed as I really need the help. Am quite lost with all the jargon and information.

Thanks Anna xxx

You could get a job I am sure - I believe the requirements are that the job should have been suitably advertised and you should be more suitable for the post than any NZer who applied. Your potential employer will need to supply you with a letter to this effect, after which you can apply for a work visa.
AFAIK this applies even if you are not on the OSL but in this case the application will not be prioritised.

That's made me feel a lot more positive. Feeling really anxious about whether I should go or not. But feel I have nothing to loose by doing it!

What's an AFAIK though?!! Confused Do you know if I should apply whilst in England or is it better to apply in person?

I get the impression that employers prefer to see you in person. Have tried to enquire re my qualification suitability with NZQA but still waiting - looks a bit of a minefield trying to find out! But it will all be worth it! fingers crossed

Thanks again

Anna
