Hi all
Just did some rough calculations - if NZIS pick say 350 for each of the next two dips into the pool, and assuming that same numbers of new EOIs arrive between each period as now, the unfortunate ones to be lapsed will be all those at 155 or under whose case is 3 months old at June 3rd, about 1300 by my reckoning.
Mostly these are overseas lodgement without job offer, but about 200 employers will be frustrated.
That will leave about 850 people in the pool..... if inflow does not lift much even after that, I think NZIs will drop the size of each pick rather than have an empty pool in a few more months' time. Damned silly thinking.
NZAMI had meeting with new Minister last week, started off as a bit of position taking, some terse debate, then grudging bit of recognition of each other's position.
I wasn't there but by sound of things, I'd lay money on Dalziel having briefed new Minister Swain first, and then Swain perhaps recognising Dalziel's take on things was not necessarily the best way to handle things.
Anyway, nearest things on Minister's/NZIS' agenda do not involve to do with Skilled Migrant, job seeking, visitor visa or anything useful to most people here.
Sorry everyone
Sorting out new Investor Category and industry regulation are more imporant, apparently.
Seems they just don't take net migration seriously enough (3rd month in a row it has been negative). |
