Hi everyone,
Maybe I am being very rude and asking a personal question, well so be it.
I wouldn't mind if you don't answer this one.
Just a matter of having an idea of what the chances are to be the lucky one in the pool:
How many points do you have?( Just the score, I'm not curious about the details!)
thanks for replying this personal, arrogant and rude question!!!
Lesly. |

another 10 if outside auckland = 120

Thanks for the replies!
We currently would have 105 points:
work experience 30 points
qualification 50 points
age 25 points
but we aim for 165 points, we are trying to get a job offer(+50points), outside Auckland(+10 points), but it doesn't look so good till now, hope we succeed in getting one!
We didn't sell anything yet, so there's no hurry, but actually, we can't wait packing our things. Doesn't anyone need a house? A car? A fridge? Maybe some microwaves ?
Karltsmith, I wouldn't be scared, 170 points sounds great to me. I guess you will be on top of the pool. Leave some room for us, will you ???
Good luck to everyone!!
Regards, Lesly |

|

1. It's looks like I get more points (10 points more) when I calculate them myself! As I understand it, I don't get two 5 bonus points. It's possible?
2. In any way I need a job offer. What are my options to go to NZ to apply for jobs and for interviews? Can I do it with a tourist visa?
Thanks |

Under the Skilled categories"qualifications" points system if you have both a recognized undergraduate and a recognized post graduate qualification you apparently cannot claim more the 55 points.
I wonder how many applicants miss this restriction? |

My wife and I have 185 points with a job offer. Hope they pull us from the "pool" before we drown!
Cheers!

I think it's likely that the number of points people will need to become residents will be lower than many currently believe, (provided they are not from India and China.) I single out these countries because, aside from the British, they have provided NZ with the bulk of its migrants in the last couple of years.
The fact is that, under the old system, applicants from all countries were treated more or less equally. Under the new system applicants from China, India and many other countries will not gain any points for work experience unless they already have a job offer in New Zealand. This means that NZ will almost certainly accept considerably fewer migrants from these countries than in previous years. (I will leave it to others who wish to debate the rights and wrongs of this to start a thread discussing it.)
NZ still wants large numbers of immigrants. Two of the main source countries of migrants have been 'frozen out'. What I believe this may mean is that anyone from the list of countries below who could have got enough points (or slightly too few points) under the old system without a job offer will probably still be able to gain residence without a job offer under the new system. It may be that scores very close to 100 will be successful. Time will tell.

Agreed.
Curious that they include New Zealand in the list of "approved" countries. I'll bet they'll favor their own people first!
Cheers!
Rich
P.S. Thanks much for all of the hard work you put into moderating this site...it's a great resource! |
