Hi all
Can anybody tell me what a police certificate should look like. Dave's just arrived - typically 2 days after he left.
All I've received is a letter from New Scotland Yard stating that
'no information is held about you in the Person Record category of the Police National Computer'
and at the bottom underlined is 'This document does not constitute a Certificate of Good Character'.
I thought the whole point was that it is supposed to be a certificate of good character. Have we received the wrong thing or is this it . He doesn't need it for a work permit, but we will need it for LTBV.
Help. Sandra |

It costs £10.00 and they state it could take up to 42 days. Ours took 22 days!

Hi Tanya
Thanks for putting my mind at rest. I think I expected something that looked a little more official.
Craig
Dave's took just about a month.

Many thanks.....Tanya and Sandra.
I obtained two forms from the police station yesterday and am just about to fill them in. I don't think I've got any skeletons in my closet...... |

Craig,
let's be honest, the police probably wouldn't find them if there were, given recent evidence!

How long are the police reports valid for?
And is it 3 months for medicals? If offered a job whilst in NZ can the medicals be done there or must they be done in country of origin?

Moorf,
Police reports are valid for 6 months, and 3 months for the medicals & x-rays, and yes, you can have the medicals done in NZ. |

Just something I found when I was browsing the NZIS site re police checks:
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rdonlyres/5B3B50D2-70DB-4E92-A50D-7E7AF2D0AAC9/0/nzis1011.pdf
It basically says:
You are legally entitled to gain access to information about
yourself under section 21 of the Data Protection Act 1998. You
need to request a Person Record: Prosecution/Criminal History.
Enquiries can be directed through your local police station to:
National Identification Service
Rm 1229
Metro Police Service
London SW1 H0BG
Note: If you are resident, or have been previously resident, in
Scotland, ask your local police station for a Scottish Criminal
Record Office subject access request. A Scottish Police Clearance
constitutes a Clearance for Scotland only, unless the Clearance
states that the ‘Police national computer’ has been accessed, in
which case the Clearance will constitute a Police Clearance for
the whole of the United Kingdom.
A fee is payable.
Hope this helps someone! |

hi all
i've just sent off my request for information via my local police station (form 3019B i think it was) so i guess i'll eventually receive a letter like this. has anyone had any comeback from submitting their application with a letter like this from the police national computer? did it turn out to be sufficient?
cheers,
matt |

Quite simple really. despite all the evidence, he remains un-convicted. So he has no record.
What gets my back up is the fact that he has never apologised to the family of the man concerned. Whether he was guilty or not, it happened in his home.
On a brighter note, at least Gary Glitter got jailed for his crimes, so no chance of him going to NZ. |
