I'm a little confused. My family (wife and 4 kids) are looking at immigrating to NZ. I initially caught on to this buzz after learning about the shortage of IT professionals nationwide.
After significant research, I have a problem. I don't know what a Recognised Program of Formal Training would be. I do not have a degree in computer science, but instead have 6 years of experience, an MCSE and Novell certifications and (hopefully!) will have my CCNA shortly.
Without knowing what a recognized program of formal training is I won't know whether I qualify on either the POL or OSL.
Thanks for your help!

Hi Josh and welcome. I think these certifications represent Recognised Programs of Formal Training but I do not know this for sure. With luck, another member will be able to enlighten us. Failing that, a quick phone call to the NZIS will clear it up. |

| Being certified in those areas will do for the OSL but for the POL I believe you need the degree in comp science (meaning you couldn't claim the bonus points in the SMC) |

Thanks for the replies. I think my confusion came from the very similar titles for the Work to Residence programs on the NZIS website.
For clarification, the POL applies to those who are trying to obtain residency. The OSL applies for work permits.
I think that I am going to pursue to work permit avenue, then apply for residency from within the country. At least that is the plan. |
