Qualification Question....

Has anyone come across any professional qualifications that are recognised by NZIS such as Chartered Institute of Marketing / Institute of Direct Marketing etc ?

No I havent...I'm a Chartered Chemist and this isnt recognised. I think this is because entry to many institutions is by quals and experience and so it is not a examined qual....apart from accountancy I think? Hmmm

I think Karltsmith is right, membership to a professional body that is obtained through an examination process is more likely to be a recognised qual. I work in the accounting profession but I am not a chartered accountant as I have always specialised in taxation (companies not individuals, so not much help to people on this site unfortunately). I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation in the UK, entrance to which is gained through a two stage examination process. I have filed an assessment application with NZQA and am awaiting a response fingers crossed

The immigratiion agent thinks I have a good case, I hope so given the effort I have had to go to in terms of providing as much documentation I can on the Institute, its examination and membership processes etc. Interesting warm up for the PR process no doubt. If we get a positive assessment we will have 105 points, so all I would then need is a job offer......thats all I would need!

Hmmm I have the Professional Cert in Marketing and am also M.IDM (Member Inst. of Direct Marketing) - the IDM I gained through quals and experience but the Chartered Inst of Marketing quals all gained through study and examination... I sent of a PreAssess Request from the NZQA last night - should have an answer in approx 10 days - I'll let you know how we get on! Yes
