Hi all

One would suspect this is driven by NZIS trying to avoid an empty pool, if all old applications are lapsed as policy earlier provided for.

Good luck to those of you who benefit, sad news for those of you on much lower points who now miss out and may yet have to be lapsed.

Regards

Quote:
"An amendment circular will be published today regarding changes to the Skilled Migrant Category.
You will be pleased to note that SMC applications which qualify for a points total lower than the selection point at which the EOI was taken from the pool may now be approved on a case by case basis, provided they meet certain criteria. This should deal with the issue of clients who make genuine mistakes in their EOIs and who over-claim by 5 or 10 points. The original policy required that these applicants be declined, whereas if they had been selected at a later date they would have been approved.
The concept of the currency of an EOI is being introduced, so that applications may be approved at a points total that meets a selection point at any time during the currency of an EOI. The currency of an EOI will be the three month period from the date of submission.
The officer making the decision must be satisfied that there was a reasonable basis for making the claim for points in the Expression of Interest and that there was no fraud or intent to deceive.
In addition to this amendment, there is also an interim provision to extend the currency of EOIs for Expressions of Interest submitted to the Pool, on or before 3 June 2004.
The details of this provision are:
a. Expressions of Interest submitted to the Pool from and including 17 December 2003 to and including 3 March 2004 are current until 3 September 2004.
b. Expressions of Interest submitted to the Pool on and including 4 March 2004 to and including 3 June 2004 are current for a period of six months from the date they were submitted to the Pool.
Full details of these amendments should be available via our website this afternoon.

Hi Jamie,

Thanks again for this. I'm really glad NZIS is giving those initial EOIs another crack at the whip. It only seems fair. So it looks as though NZIS is anticipating that the pass mark will settle around September time.

In essence, I think the new policy has some good ideas; just the implementation of it and the lack of communication went a bit wrong.

Good luck to all.

Cheers,

Evelynne

OK, I just want to make sure if I understand correctly...
I just checked my date of submittion through the EOI application online and it was 1st May 04 (which is confusing cause I remember I submitted earlier than that) but since it says on the news that it will be keep for another 6 months from the date of submttion...so my application will be legit until November of this year then...right?

Help, please, for a girl who has been out in the sun too long...Evelynne, does this mean that my online submission of Jan 31 is good until Sept 3? And there is a chance that my 115 points will be enough? I am confused.
Thank you,
SoCal Gal cool

Thanks, everyone! I think I was just so excited about getting that extension, my mind couldn't process it all fast enough! Just want to jump through all their hoops so badly and get the official welcome in!
