For anybody interested, the NZ gov. have just given the go ahead to build a $30 million saw mill and processing plant to a Malaysian company. It is set to be built at the beautiful Whangapoua beach area on the Coromandel.
This is despite solid opposition from both locals and visitors. I have always thought that they (Nz gov) were more enviromentally aware than to destroy an area of outstanding natural beauty for the sake of short term $$$. The value to their country should be measured in tourist dollars, and the tourists dont want to go see a bloody saw mill.
Not to mention the long term impact. What are they doing????
Sad No
