I almost fell off my chair this morning when I read the great news. 115 - that means we can apply even without a job offer. Huge grin on face all morning.

Weeell, how about that! What timing!
Ok, serious question now (altho can't stop grinning )...
1. What should we do as we are off to NZ on 21st Sept and I doubt they would have sorted everything by then?
2. Can we legally go thru this process whilst in NZ or must we be in UK.
3. How long can we stay in NZ once we have the (what is it called ? perm residency stamp or something) in our passports? Is there a time limit for us to get jobs?
That'll do for now! |

Ok, we have just rung our local police station re records
They are posting us the forms to fill in - 1 each.
They say it will cost £10 each.
Advised it may take up to 40 days to get the info back.
Is this the same procedure that others are following?
Cheers

Hi all
115 is mainly good news for applicants. Based on the number saying "gawd, better get my application in" you can expect applications to increase in number and 115 may bounce up a bit - not straight line fall as such.
This big pick is , I think, fines strategy. Reflecting growing public concern about not enough workers in NZ, avoids embarrasment of lapsing people and creates market interest to get application numbers back up.
Still does not fix problem of if anyone can ever guarantee their start time/visa issuance date, therefore when will employer hire you. If nobody needs a job offer, we'll still end up with qualified people working outside their skill area if the final job is not assessed.
Makes it all easier to get here but just shows more flaws in SMC system.
Good luck to you all, those on 115 now but not yet lodged, brace yourselves.... |
