Hi you guys,
As you know we have just had shippers in to give us our first quote, we have been gobsmacked to say the least at the cost of insurance approx £800ish and the cover seems pretty crap, for instance if they damage a dining chair or a chair belonging to your three piece they will only pay to replace the damaged item. There is no cover for mould, mildew damage which is more likely to happen wouldnt you think?
What we were wondering is how many of you guys took the risk and didnt bother to insure your container, surely the likelyhood of it getting lost, falling off a ship or the ship sinking are remote are they not?
How many of you who did pay for insurance wish you hadnt and how many of you who didnt did have breakages?
We appreciate there may be damage to some items but does it really warrant paying £800 for!
Would be very interested in your replies on this one. |

Hi Fern,
Yes it is expensive...we paid over £800 but the cover included mould, mildew, sets, electrical etc that most insurances do not cover. Its easy once your stuff is here to think "I wish we'd saved the money and took achance" but you have more to lose if you have a valuable cargo thats lost at sea....the last thing you need to start your new life in NZ is to start from scratch agian!
