Hi again,
One other silly question... how do you find out if your job is a specialist skill? Is the only way to find out by submitting to NZQA?
Thanks

have look at the guide to the skilled migrant category on the NZIS website.
The NZQA will only evaluate your qualifications against NZ requirements they will not comment on the type of employment you are seeking.
If you are not on the OSL or the POL you need to build a case for yourself in the relevant section of the application form drawing on boith your qualification and exerience and how these will transfer to the NZ employer.
Do you have a job offer??? |

Hi Karl,
(thanks again!!)
We are applying under skilled migrant as my husband has a degree in computer science and works as a computer network manager. He will be the main applicant and I will be hoping to gain entry as his spouse.
I have been offered a job and so far my husband has not. I wanted to know if my qualification as a trampoline coach could be counted as a specialist skill which will give us an extra 10 points before we lodge our EOI.
I just didn't know where to look to see if my qualification was a specialist skill.
It all just seems a little confusing!

Hi Traci,
I don't think this will count as a specialist skill, however you could try the 'Talent' category which I think you stand a good chance of being sucessful under as this includes sports coaching! Your employer may need to get an 'approval inpricipal' or be a registered employer with NZIS to get you a long term (30month) visa. After 2 years you can apply for PR and be certain of getting it!! In the mean time if your husband secures employment he can apply for PR and/or you can get into the EOI pool if you have >100 points and take your chances while you are bringing home the bacon!!!!
Regards Karl |

Hi Karl,
I looked at that category I dont actually plan to do coaching when I get out there, merely use my qualification to gain extra points (can I do that?)

| Can you divulge what your job offer is and if it draws on your qualifications? |
