Hey sesame - the more you dig into that NZIS site the better I feel - especially the areas for "visitors" where it does seem quite upbeat about coming over as a visitor and then getting a job offer and staying - also mentions that they may extend a visitors visa if you get a job offer if more time is needed for application etc!!

YAY

Feeling more positive by the day....

Smile hi, Moorf!

sounds good ...... but what to do regarding the return flight that needs to be booked in advance - it's far more expensive to book a 6 month ticket than a three month (at least for us here)
ideally we'd get a 3 month ticket - and obviously never (plan to) use the return flight - but if we need to extend our visa - we'll of course have to extend our ticket, right?

Confused

Hi Sesame - yes, I would have thought that you would need to extend flights to time you want to spend there - thats the deal if you go in on a visitors visa - that you have the return part booked.

We are British and can therefore buy a 6 month ticket as we can visit for 6 months and extend to 9 once there if required (altho personally, if we don't get positive feedback/interviews within the first 2/3 mths we shall review the situation and perhaps come back earlier!). Eek

I have only just started looking at flights and I will be checking various options such as flexibility, cancellation times etc etc - I'll keep you posted with what I find....

We are considering Business Class purely because we are seasoned long haul travellers and know the benefits of extra legroom and a more personal service Smile although we are looking at c. £3,000 each, but hoping that this ticket might also be more flexible.

Let me know what you find too!

Cheers

Sesame - not sure how old you are but WHV's are only for those up to 30 (or is it 32?).

Been there, tried that Sad

Hi Sesame
If USA is same as UK you can only have whv upto the age of 30! I know it's just not fair who says you can't have fun after 30? I personally have 5 mths left until I'm classed as old? But hubby is over the hill unfortunatly! I think you also have to have no dependent children? Don't quote me for sure on that one though but I'm sure that's what I've read so having 4 that really rules me out! LOL
