It's OK you won't be a gooseberry 'cos he won't be meeting me there  . I'm flying on to Palmerston North, where he will meet me  .
We can support each other through immigration though. After endless nagging to check it out with NZIS (who are two buildings down from Dave's office, so it's easier for him to pop in than for me to call them) Dave has found out that I shouldn't fly in on a one way ticket as I don't have a visa. I was going to wait until I was there to get it, which they said was fine, as I thought it would be less stressful to do it once I'm there. I just can't come through immigration without a return ticket. That's what they've told him anyway.
I thought you could if you had proof that you had sufficient funds to buy a return ticket. What if you were using your full 6 month visit visa and didn't want to buy a return to ticket until you were leaving.  |

| A cheaper option that worked for us was to buy onward tickets to Sydney. Virgin Blue do cheap one ways for about 80GBP from Christchurch to Sydney. You can nook them on the web. Also, you need to have a visitor visa for entry to Oz - this can also be done online without having to send your passport away. We did this when arriving w/o visas, and got our 6 month visitor ones fine - they didn't even ask to see our confirmation of onward travel - but we are having a holiday in December to Sydney anyway! |
