Hi,

Can anyone tell me how long police certificates take to come through in the UK?

Also which address are people using? The NZIS give Rm1229, Metro Police Service, London. Our local police station gave a different one.

Any advice gratefully received.

Hi Lauren

We applied through the County Force for ours...I think it has to be first authorised by a senior policeman (Data Protection Act). Any local police station will give you a form which you fill in and then send to the County HQ. Once you return that to the HQ, they then send it off to Scotland Yard for processing.
They guarantee to respond within 40 days...ours took just over a week.

Hi

My husband appied for his 4 weeks ago and as yet we've heard nothing. Then it turned out he didn't need it, he picked up his work visa yesterday, they didn't ask for one!!

Hi,

We didn't need it for Work Visa either, We're just trying to be organised so we've got it when we're ready to apply for residency over there. (Within 6 months so it doesn't run out!)

Hi Lauren

It should take no longer than 6 weeks to process, thats pretty much standard but may vary with the force concerned.

There is a statutory limit on the time for the response but we whined until they did it faster....

Ours have been through within 3 weeks from time of sending to local Cumbria force who then passed on to London.
