I see that the NZIS have updated their website with a new look and a bit more information about the Skilled Migrant Category. Unfortunately, not everything has been updated but there is some new info there. For example, clarification of how bonus points can be obtained under the Skilled Migrant Category.
Identified future growth area
Currently we recognise three broad areas - Biotechnology, Information Communications Technology and Creative industries.
Cluster
A cluster is a group of employers within a particular industry who, though they may compete with each other, also work together co-operatively to gain greater business advantage. We currently recognise five clusters - you only qualify for points if your employer belongs to one of these five clusters:
Film Auckland
Wellington Creative Manufacturing
Canterbury Software
Canterbury Nutraceuticals
Biosouth
Employment outside Auckland
A place of work that is outside the Auckland region attracts bonus points as we want to ensure all of New Zealand can benefit from the skills of people moving here. To qualify for points you will need to prove that your employment is outside the six local government areas that make up the Auckland region.
These local government areas are defined as follows:
Rodney District Council;
North Shore City Council;
Waitakere City Council;
Auckland City Council;
Manukau City Council;
Papakura District Council;
Franklin District Council. |

Is it just me or do you feel the new skilled migrant category opening yesterday was more deserving of a mention on the home page rather than being hidden in the "New Look" website! Certainly closing categories without notice was!
Also you cannot find the child supplement forms easily! For those that need them (like me) it is form NZIS 1103, A search on the site will reveal them!
And finally, having spent last night reviewing the new EOI forms I was left with the underwhelming feeling that the world just got more complicated.
As the Chemists among you know Administratium is the heaviest element known to man (and woman) and has the ability to periodically reorganise its structure using its' electrons, protons, neutrons, assistant protons, assistant vice protons etc...etc...(you get the idea) and become even heavier. I was left feeling that this new system is a strong contender!
I must say I was expecting a leaner, easier system with less paperwork at the initial stages.
Anyway such is life.....the bureaucrats win again...
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE LET THE GAMES COMMENCE! |
