Any views on Wellington area? Basically my eldest son wants to live on the beach, but I guess within a 10 minute walk would be just about OK with him. I need to be close to the University. I was thinking of Island Bay or Miramar. Anyone any views on these places? Are there better places to the north or west of the city?

We have a budget of approx NZ$375k and I am hoping for a 4 bed/2 bathroom place. Does anyone know if this is realistic in Wellington, decent area close to good schools etc.

Thanks.

Oh it will certainly be windy in Island Bay but great spot and right on the (windy) coast. However some people in Wellington did say its not too popular because of rush hour traffic and it can take up to 20 mins to get into the city?????? so real hardship if, like me, its 53 miles each way to work in the UK.

Try this link for a profile of Wellington suburbs
