Hi guys
I’m just sharing with you the latest “obstruction” to our NZ dream.
I went to the NZ embassy last Monday to get the result of my husband’s visitor’s visa application (from where I come from, it’s necessary). Instead of a visa, a letter was handed over. It’s stated there that the visa officer doesn’t see incentive that my hubby is returning to his home country after his visa expires. However, he is asked to give his argument through a letter. It never occurred to me that this would happen. But I am still positive that he’ll get a thumbs-up.
If the first one doest work, we go to plan B - my turn to apply for a visitor’s visa. My question, would it be ok to tell the visa officer that I am going to NZ to look for a job? Since most companies don’t hire people without seeing them, would this be a valid reason?
Thanks.

My boyfriend and I would just like to visit NZ to attend a wedding, however he had a work visa cancelled in June 2003 and an 'Alert' placed against his name - (unsure what this means) and we now have to apply for a visa by letter too. I think it is a limited purpose visa. Does anyone know about this? Help.
I think in your case you will have to resolve things with your husband's visa, You will maybe have to provide mitigating circumstances like us. |

Limited Purpose visa is issued if entry to NZ is temporary. This includes the ffg purposes:
- study as a full fee paying student (generally only for short courses);
- attending an event such as a wedding, funeral, conference or seminar, graduation or other significant ceremony, sports tournament or match, or religious event;
- medical treatment in NZ;
- family emergencies such as an illness or accident affecting a family
member or relative of the applicant in New Zealand;
- "milestone" events such as anniversaries or reunions
Visitor's visa falls under this visa type. |
