Hi, I currently work for masterfoods (mars) in the uk, and am looking to emigrate to NZ. The most sensible option for me is to stay with Masterfoods since I have 25 yrs service and transfer to our sister plant at Wanganui. Can anyone give me advice on Wanganui it seems too perfect, and the cost of houses in the area, and an idea of the areas to live in & the areas not to !
I am also a qualified driving instructor in the UK, would my uk qualifications count in NZ ? or would I have to requalify ? Any advice is much appreciated & gratefully received.
Thanks Steve |

I was looking at living in Wanganui also and have had a lot of favourable comments. It seems people either love it (charm, tidiness, central location, water sports, low costs, good schools) or hate it (parochial, isolated, insular, a bit odd).
I have chosen not to live there as much because there it has been named an unemployment blackspot in the national press of late and I was thinking of my children in the future.
Sorry I can't offer personal experience of the place though... |

| I've being Wanganui for 4 yrs(91-94). I would say this cities is not bad for furthering your education but to seatledown here not really attractive. Nothing much happening beside nice scenery and landscape. Jobs opportunity quite limited here due to small size of population. Earthquake always happened coz this city near to Mr Ruapehu. |
