My family and I want to move to NZ but do not meet the criteria in the skills catagory.
What othere options do we have?
I looked on the NZ emigration website and I see there is a business and entrepeneaur category, any info/advice on this would great.
Thanks. |

The easy way is to get a job first.
If you have a suitably scarce skill (look for the occupational shortages list) then you will easily get a work visa. With a job offer you will also have the majority of points needed for residence.
Try an agency which specialises in your work field first.
I regret I know nothing of applying as an entrepreneur. |

Hi all
Business stream is 3 types:
1, Investor @ NZ$1m plus, and this policy will change soon.
2. Entrepreneur, is for people alredy in NZ running a business for 2 years.
3. LTBV is the means of becoming Entrepreneur, it allows you to set up or expand an existing business. Entry criteria is, firstly, ownership or control of similar business to that proposed, for 2 years. After that you need capital, opportunity and a good business plan.
Kind regards

just checked this category out. 12 points to get in.
age 35 - 39 (8pts) + NZ$2,500,000 (4pts) = 12..............you're in.
age 50 - 54 (2 pts) + NZ$5,500,000 10 (10 pts) = 12.............you're in.
so, provided you've got a bit of dosh......................you're in.
what sort of changes do you reckon are coming jamie? |

Hi Rodders
Don't forget teh points for business experience, this will mean lower funds required or greater age limit.
Changes are only speculated, but are definitely coming. Reason being existing options allow the receiving bank to ship the cash overseas so no benefit to NZ, also the PA was staying away from NZ but family were here (when NZIS said they approved the PA and wanted him/her specifically as the money maker, the family are add ons)
Expect maybe an offer of investment bonds tied to a regional project or govt project, and stiffer requirements on PA behaviour. Maybe a sliding scale of benefits ie more you invest and for longer, more you get in benefits. If you invest the minimum and are older, maybe you get deferred health benefits or longer stand down on superannuation etc.
The Chinese inverstors who dominate this category are just lending their money to NZ so the family can get residence/citizenship while PA stays overseas and minds his/her multimillion dollar business. Then when family get the ticket punched, some have shipped the cash back to China and go on welfare, no speak English = no job ........
I think they'll phrase policy around Uk investors and have hurdles in place for other so should be OK for you guys (they already need IELTS 5...)
