Oh dear, I need to get into the habit of spelling that "neighbourhoods"...
Anyway, after a bit of research it seems that Wellington is the locale where my husband and I are most likely to find good job opportunities. I've checked out various real estate sites, but although I can get a good idea about housing prices I'm coming up a bit short in learning about what areas would suit us best.
We're both in our 30's and are childfree. We'd prefer to be close enough for an easy commute to the city, and are willing to settle into a older, smaller house with little land (a townhouse is fine but we don't want an apartment). We'd like someplace funky rather than family-oriented. Schools are irrelevant, but we're going to need a veterinary clinic. And darn it, I'd love to have a harbour view!
Any suggestions? I was contemplating the eastern Wellington suburbs (like Miramar), but don't know what the commute would be like. We live in the Washington area, where commutes are measured by time rather than miles (I used to work 14 miles away, which required a 70-minute commute!). |

Don't know if you've seen this:
This café culture reputation is, I have to say, richly deserved and I think Wellington has done an excellent job in dragging itself into the 21st Century. If you want to live within a few minutes' walk of the city to get the benefit of the café culture then Oriental Bay, Mount Victoria, Wadestown, Thorndon, and Newtown are nice suburbs that would be worth looking at.

I think you should check out Kelburn Parade. Very nice surrounding, close to town, nearby to Victoria Univ and most of the people lived there very nice and polite |
