Can anyone tell me what a composite school is please. I've checked the Dept of Education site but can't find an explanation!
Thanks if anyone can help. |

I found this for you, hope it helps.
| Quote: | | Composite schools have the role of providing both primary and secondary education to Mäori and non-Mäori aged 5 through to 19 on a single school site. Composite schools are of interest to whänau, hapü, iwi and Mäori communities because they are usually the form of schooling located in rural Mäori communities that are often geographically isolated such as in parts of the Bay of Plenty, Northland and Waikato regions. |
Here is the website I got it from: Maori in Composite Schools
I also found this from the TeachNZ site:
| Quote: | | State composite schools, also known as area schools, cater for children from new entrants, aged five, through to senior secondary level. These are generally located in rural areas. |
I get the impression they are set up in rural areas and take on kids for the full age range rather than just primary or secondary.
So there you go...
