When can you start school

I understand that the school year begins at the end of January but you have to be at least five before you can start school.
My daughter turns five in mid March.
Can she start school as soon as she turns five, or will she have to wait until the next term, or even worse, wait until the following January?
Any clarification on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Mike,

She can start on her 5th birthday...but legally she can wait till she is 6 if you want her too. (you probably wont!)

So if it is 3rd March like my daughter Kate, she will be packin her school bag and clutching her lunch and she will be off on the 3rd, even if that is a Friday. They start on the day (if they want.)

terms are 10 weeks and there are 4 of them
(no half terms..ha ha)
