Hey everybody
I was just wondering . . . I live in the UK at the moment and am fortunate to have all of Europe on my doorstep and relatively simple access to a plethora of other countries to go to for holidays 
NZ, however, is a little further away from places than the UK, so where do Kiwis go for their holidays? 
Are they stuck with OZ? Do they stay in NZ? Do they go to the Cook Islands, Fiji, etc? Or do they just take longer breaks and go to Europe, South-East Asia?

Yes to all of those Dan-ish - provided people can afford further afield like Asia, North America and Europe. (Plenty can't.)
Camping and enjoying the great outdoors is much more popular than the UK - you'll know this already, I'm sure. I like my comforts too much for camping, but I'm sure the kids will push us into it sometime. 
It's getting cheaper and cheaper to fly to Australia - Now $NZ99 for return flights to Sydney and Melbourne. Shame that airport duties and goverment taxes raise the actual price paid to a bit over NZ$300. Still, it's getting better.
Australian Gold Coast is popular with Chch people in winter. Gold Coast is too hot and sticky for most people in summer but v.nice in winter to escape the frosts for a week or a month or two. |
