A PM is a private message. At the top of the page it says you have xxx new messages. It's a means of communicating without sharing it with the forum.

Hello Friends 
I'm back - awww  you guys are so sweet but please don't worry - as Mark said I have been soooo busy - spent yesterday at my Gran & Grandads and they were FAB - really supportive and so pleased that we are taking our chances with NZ ... great day and felt REALLY good when we got home... 
Today we spent all day sorting through our stuff which is being held in storage - it's amazing how brutal you can be with getting rid of stuff when you have some shipping quotes in your hand!! 
Was having a bit of a downer earlier this week but have picked myself up and dusted myself down and drunk some wine  ....
You guys are fab - so glad I found this place - u keep me going
