Hi all,
Can anybody tell me whether or not it is worth shipping our white goods. We have a new washing machine, new fridge freezer, cooker that is 3 years old (gas) and a tumble dryer(not that concerned taking this).
Please could you put me right on these goods. What about TVs Hi Fi`s and playstations?
Sorry but what about deep fat fryers? is this worth taking.
Thanks to all for answers in advance

Not from a health point of view
Seriously, there has been a lot of discussion on the forums - some people say that you are better off taking everything in a container (at least you can sell it if you decide to buy new); some advocate selling everything and just taking items with sentimental value.
I think there's a lot to be said for the 'ship out and sell if not wanted' - at least you then have a choice of new or old. We've just got a new suite - it was bad enough choosing that!, our widescreen telly will work if connected to a video and new ones in NZ are apparently quite costly, we like our new fridge freezer, my computers have to go !!! I dread to think of what we would have to pay for new everything. |

Hi Lincoln Imp,
Why will you have to get rid of your PCs? They should work fine in NZ, just buy a multi gang trailing socket to take with you, then put an NZ plug on the end of it and your table lamps, clock, t.v; stereo, PCs etc. (i.e. small power items) will plug into the trailing socket as usual.

Hi,
I mean my computers will have to go with me, not go elsewhere !
Although my reply had the quote it missed out a couple of emoticons :(
There should have been a couple of smileys to show I was kidding.
Thanks to previous posts my mind has been put at rest regarding taking my white goods....
I think NZ has been designed for emigrating Brits - chop off a plug, replace and Robert is your parents male sibling ! Even able to re-use TV through a VCR - couldn't ask for more :) |
