Hi,
3 of our children are in school in Puketapu, Hawkes Bay having started there 2 months ago. They love it...we love it....and they are learning lots. In some subjects they seem slightly further on and in others, a bit behind. The teachers are happy and motivated. I have to drag the kids out of school at the end of the day.
NZ seems to be producing plenty of well educated people who are successful in life so don't worry about the details and get your kids out here!

Thanx to all who make this site interesting. I live in RSA, Cape Town, and very afraid of the future for my family and I. I am so-called coloured and have not gained from the"rainbow nation" promise. I am making plans to visit NZ this July and speculate on my family's chances of living in NZ. I am interested in having correspondence with persons that can assist.
I believe I can make a positive contribution to NZ. I am a soccer coach and referee and have kids that are exemptionally gifted in sports. I am aware that they can develop easier in NZ than in RSA.
Thanx again to everyone for their contributions.

Anyone who promotes soccer (football) in New Zealand gets my vote!
Your kids will undoubtedly get plenty of support for sport in NZ as they are very active people and are certainly sport orientated. You only have to go see the All-Blacks to see that.
Good luck with your trip and you will definately get plenty of support and assistance on this site...

Hi All
Thought I would just post a little snippet of an e-mail from Dave.
I suppose this explains WHY!!
I have no regrets now - after three weeks here - about all the decisions we have made. This country, my job, the apartment, the cost of living, the friendliness of the people, the lack of hassle, the lack of traffic, there is a fundamental feeling of happiness and willing co-operation in day-to-day encounters. And much-valued freedom.
Oh to be there soon

Hi Sandra,
How good is that? I bet you can't wait to join Dave His message surely sums up how most of us feel (for those who have visited NZ), and what those who have yet to visit is sure to find. Glad it's going so well
Keep it coming.

My hopes and dreams:
To live in a beautiful land not completely covered in concrete. To live with people who are friends with their neighbours. To live with people who aren't too busy or too frustrated with their own problems that they forget to be nice. To be able to afford a little land, and a little space, and a little peace in a frenetic world. To start over. To give up the big bucks, and to do something that I am passionate about. To hopefully have children some day, and to raise them in a society that doesn't scare me. To breathe clean air.
My name is Melissa. I am an attorney in CA, planning on taking a chance and moving to NZ in January. My plans are to go to Massey University in Palmerston North with the hope of gaining entry to the veterinary school in June. Wish me luck! |

Hi Melissa and welcome
When you graduate as a vet, or even before you graduate, you can have my cat Moxie as one of your first patients. Strangely enough there is a cafe in Palmerston North and it's called Moxie's Cafe. When I saw it I knew that we were destined to live there.
My husband Dave is currently living and working in Palmerston North where I hope to be joining him shortly once the house is sold. Must keep in touch with your progress

just signed up for this forum so a warm hello to everybody. i'm just getting started with my residency application but hopefully we'll get there eventually :)
my wife is new zealander and we visited the place three years ago. we spent quite a bit of time in auckland with her folks and friends but also drove up north to matai bay to camp for a week. this was the highlight of the trip and an experience like no other for me. we had the beaches all to ourselves and spent the time swimming, exploring, and reading sat in the shade of a gorgeous Pohutukawa tree...
despite having my passport stolen in auckland i got nothing but good vibes from the place. friendly and easy going. i really want a change from london - too aggressive, congested and expensive for me now - but i can't see myself living anywhere else in england. going to nz with my wife feels like the right change of scene. i guess it's a general shift from an indoorsy, urban life to an outdoors life i'm after - with a new landscape to explore and more camping holidays like matai bay :) i've heard from many kiwis that they always felt they had more time to do things back home, though i guess in real terms i'll be as busy as ever. it's all a matter of attitude. |

Welcome to the forum Matt .
I hope you get as much enjoyment from it as Pam & I have. It just seems like one big (generally!) happy family at times, and the knowledge these people have and help & advice they give is amazing.
We're all after the same goal and I'm sure you'll learn a great deal here. Plus of course, you've already been to Godzone and your partner is a Kiwi. You're off to a flying start

.........
Friedensreich Hundertwasser is the reason i am going to nz. i met this amazing, amazing man/artist in vienna at the age of 15. by 20 i was head of his archive, working for his brilliant manager Joram Harel. i stayed with the company for 5 years, up until my departure for the usa ..... hundertwasser truly LOVED nz - and i archived all of his photos from his trips there as well ...... i wanted to share that with you all as i go on a bit of a leave of absense. i have spent a whole month reading all of your posts and getting so much help and encouragement from many of you .... and we are on our course to nz more than ever! but i am a wee bit 'tired' from it, and as i generally run stress through my body .... i am forced to lay back and rest a bit (yeah right - with an almost 2 year old!!) .... i wanted you all to know how much this forum has meant to me - and how i look forward to posting on my arrival in nz this fall.
i wish you all only the best - may there be work and sunshine for all of you!
thanks again for listening and for sharing with me.
